Amar Singh Chamkila is a newly released Indian movie, a biopic about the Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, also known as Chamkila. This is my non-spoiler review after watching the movie.
The film features some of the biggest names in the Indian movie industry with Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles.
Storyline:
The movie showcased the life of Amar Singh Chamkila when he was working at a factory making socks for a living, but deep down in his heart he wanted to sing. He begins his career as a background singer working alongside a local talent in his area.
His music career finally kicked off when he got a chance to sing in front of the people as the lead singer of his group was late and the crowd was getting way angry. Upon him, he knows what people want to hear and wants him to sing to them as pursues his career with what he has. But things get interesting when he has to find a female partner to help him sing the female lyrics of his song.
In the rise of his career, he made a lot of name for himself very early in his career but due to his R-rated songs, he started making enemies too. On the one hand, people were threatening him to stop singing vulgar songs in his concerts which can disrupt the mind of people. But when he did, people would request him to sing those same songs in his concerts, which were prohibited by the local religious activists and law enforcement authorities.
Chamkila decided to listen to people and not to the law-enforcing authorities, and that is when he fell into that deep dark trap of no hope to help him. It was not only the local religious activists and law-enforcing authorities but also his rival singers who were setting up the trap for his death.

My Thoughts:
I liked the movie a lot and I think that Diljit Dosanjh was extremely good with his acting and Imtiaz Ali did a fantastic job as director of the movie. You can watch the movie right on if you want as it is available on Netflix.
