Red One is a newly released Christmas fantasy comedy film starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Chris Evans in the leading roles. The film is directed by Jake Kasdan. The screenplay is written by Chris Morgan and is based on an original story by Hiram Garcia.
Red One was released on November 15th in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The film had its international release a few days earlier on 6th November by Warner Bros. Pictures. This holiday-themed film featuring a few of the biggest stars had a budget of a whopping $200–250 million.
Storyline of Red One:
Red One begins as Callum Drift — head of North Pole security for Saint Nicholas is just one day away from retiring from his job because of the increasing naughty behavior in the world. So now on the Eve of Christmas, an anonymous covert team breaks their way into the North Pole complex to successfully kidnap Santa Claus. It turns out that the world’s best hacker Jack O’Malley — who claims that he can locate anything in the world has unknowingly tracked the location of Santa Claus and shared it with an anonymous buyer.
There is also a secret organization M.O.R.A (Mythological Oversight and Restoration Authority) — which is responsible for keeping peace between mythological creatures and humans. Zoe Harlow, who is the director of the organization takes Jack O’Malley into custody to torture him and find out why he tracked the Santa Claus.
Since Jack O’Malley did not know that he was tracking Nick, he now has to team up with Callum Drift to help find the Santa Claus. Zoe also offers a double payment if he helps them find out where is Santa, but knowing that she cannot fully trust him she places a tracker inside him.
By using Callum’s mythical powers he and Jack are gonna gear up for the upcoming adventure. Callum also happens to have a few superpowers as well including adjusted reality, which allows him to make things bigger or shrink them down whenever he wants. Jack then tracks down the guy who brokered the deal. They then find out that this whole kidnapping of the Santa Claus script was planned by the Christmas Witch “Grýla”. Callum then goes to a monster den to meet the Krampus, thinking that Grýla is maybe working together with him.
Callum and Krampus then go into a slap-fight as Krampus doesn’t want them to leave the den.
The film finally reaches its climax as Callum Drift and Jack O’Malley find out that the Grýla “The Christmas Witch” has made a plan to trap all the naught listers into a snowball forever after she trapped Jack O’Malley and his son Dylan into one of his balls. But they break out after admitting that they were wrong.
Callum Drift & Jack O’Malley along with their team then track down the location of both Nick “Santa Claus” and Grýla “The Christmas Witch”. It is now time for the showdown as Grýla coverts herself into an Ogre before Krampus is gonna take her down.
They then trap the Witch in one of the snowballs to save the day and end the movie.

When is Red One going to be released on OTT?
We can expect it to be released on either Amazon Prime Video or MGM+ as Amazon MGM Studios have produced this film. As per the current rumors considering the previous release, the estimated OTT release date of Red One could be somewhere around April 2025.
My Thoughts on Red One:
After watching Red One in the theater, I can that it’s one of those movies of the year that you should really consider giving a try. The movie has a pretty good story along with some action and much-needed comedy. You can even consider taking your kids and family with you to watch this movie together as there are pretty much zero to none explicit scenes.
