The Damned is a Psychological and Horror film set to be released on Jan 3, 2025. The story of the film is by Thordur Palsson who is also the director, while the screenplay is written by Jamie Hannigan.
Shooting for The Damned took place in Iceland during 2023, and entered post-production in the spring of 2023.
Storyline of The Damned
The story of the film takes place during the 19th century when Odessa Young who is playing the character of a widow named Eva has a choice to save a ship from sinking on the coast of her fishing village. She avoids to help thinking that it could danger the life of her own people.
The story of the movie takes a turn when she along with her tribe starts to get punished for the choice they made.

The trailer begins with Eva and Helga in a dark room, where Helga who looks to be talking about an old event describes her thoughts by saying “Late one night when everyone was in bed, there was a knock at the door”.
The trailer then cuts to a scene where Eva is seen among a few people who seem to be from her family or tribe. Eva raised a toast saying “May the Lord protects you from harmful sea creatures and dangerous pirates”.
The trailer then transitions to a scene at the beach where a group few people are trying to drag a boat into the water. A voice then comes — far away from a boat sinking in the sea asking for help. A group of people who are present on the scene looks towards Eva asking if they should help them. Eva stops her crew saying that helping them can put our own life in danger.
Eva is then also seen in an indoor location — looking worried by her expressions. The man in the scene with her says: “Whatever wreckage can float, we’ll stay close to them.”
The trailer then transitions to a night scene with a few people in a boat along with a kid. A box then appears in the scene floating on the water as one of the men on the boat points toward the box saying “There”. Meanwhile then ends with a highlight of chaos on the boat with one of the men seen on the screen looking extremely frightened.
The trailer then transitions to a scene where a bunch of dead bodies a lying around on a beach. While a woman says: “I’ve seen evil trying to get in here.”
A man on the beach then shouts: He’s alive. Meanwhile, a few more men gather around a body lying on the beach.
A bunch of men are then seen preparing coffins.
A man then appears on the scene saying: The dead can’t break free if you hammer iron nails into their feet.
The trailer then transitions to a scene in a room where a young girl can be seen along with an older woman.
What happened on that ship was a terrible tragedy, says the you girl.
The older woman replies saying: It doesn’t care.
The trailer then transitions to a scene, where the young girl looking afraid is lying on her bed thinking about the people who died on the ship — the scene also looks to be like if she is having visions of a huge fire with that ship burning and people screaming for help while their bodies are turning into ashe.
I weird-looking girl then appears — sitting in the corner of the room as she says: “I wouldn’t sleep if I were you. Thing like that never stops.”
The trailer then transitions to a scene where a girl is sitting in a place full of snow near the sea. A man then appears along with her, as he says: “It’s never too late to ask for forgiveness for what we did.”
The girl then opens one of the coffins which is now empty. But has a few black objects which look like threads.
The trailer then begins to end as a few men are standing around four dead bodies wrapped around in sheets. While the voice of a woman appears saying: “It won’t stop until it’s taken all of us.”
While man shouts in fear saying “Keep it away, Keep it away, from me”. A girl then gets scared by a crow.
The trailer then transitions through a few scenes as a man appears and says: “The living always more dangerous than that.”

My Thoughts
If you are a fan of watching thriller movies, I would say that you should consider watching this movie in the theatre. After watching the trailer of the movie, it looked very promising to me. The trailer of the movie also has a little vibe of Game of Thrones as it was mostly shot in the show and the dead people reference is similar to White Walkers.
