We are just 5 days away from potentially one the biggest WrestleMania of all time, with some of the biggest matches ups we can potentially get to see. But, there on thing that my eyes are on right now and that is “The Rise and Fall of Damage Ctrl”
Before we get to the epic clash between two former friends Bayley and Iyo Sky of the Damage CTRL, I want to take you all for a ride to see how it all went down from best of friends to bitter enemies.
Bayley Returns at SummerSlam 2022 and Forms Damage Control
It all began back at the SummerSlam 2022 when Bayley made her return after more than a year, alongside Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai after the match between Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch to shock the entire WWE universe. That was when Bayley laid the foundation of The Damage Ctrl.
Iyo Sky handcuffs Bayley to Becky Lynch and wins The 2023 Money In The Bank
The got bad and interesting in one single night when Bayley interrupted Sky right when she was on the top of the ladder alone and just when she was about to win the whole thing, she pushed the ladder dropping Sky to the floor.
Later into the match when Bayley was trying to win the Money In The Back for herself, Sky handcuffed Bayley and Lynch together in the middle of the ring onto the ladder. She then made her way to the top by climbing over the handcuffed Bayley to win the whole damn thing.
Bayley helps Iyo Sky to Cash In Money In The Bank
Just after just one year of forming Damage Ctrl, Iyo Sky along with the Bayley marched their way to the ring at SummerSlam 2023 to cash in the money in the bank after a brutal triple threat between the Champion Asuka and challengers Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair.
The match ended with Bianca pinning the champion Asuka after she delivered the mist to Charlotte.
Bayley and Sky marched their way to the ring with Bayley taking out Asuka and Charlotte at the ringside. Iyo then cashed in her money in the bank and delivered a moonsault to Bianca to win the championship.
Kairi Sane Returns and Forgives Bayley
After just 3 months, Kairi Sane made her shocking return at the Crown Jewel 2023 to help her old-time friend Iyo Sky take out Bianca Belair. Maybe you don’t know but it was Bayley who took out Kairi back in 2020 from WWE before returning.
Just a few days after the Crown Jewel on an episode on SmackDown Bayley rolled out her concern for not trusting Kairi to come on board with Damage Ctrl.
I respect you as a leader of Damage Ctrl, and I forgive you.
Kairi then said to Bayley
Asuka joins Damage CTRL
On that same night in a tag team match between Bianca Belair and Asuka against the Damage Ctrl, Asuka misted her partner Bianca and joined her old friend Kairi Sane in the form of Damage Ctrl.
Damage CTRL provides no help to Bayley in the matchup against Bianca Belair
After decaring herself for the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match Bayley squared off against The EST in the coming weeks on the SmackDown before the Royal Rumble. Damage Ctrl decided to leave Bayley on her own the ring against Bianca saying that they didn’t want to cause a disqualification which ultimately resulted in a loss for Bayley.
Bayley Wins The 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Match
In the coming weeks, Bayley pulls off one of the biggest wins of her career by winning the Royal Royal match on her own. Punching her ticket to WrestleMania 40.
Bayley heard Damage Ctrl talking behind her back in Japanese
After going face-to-face with the WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley on Raw Bayley decided to announce her decision on the Smackdown.
Later that week on the following episode of SmackDown, Bayley heard her teammates of the Damage Ctrl laughing on her back in the locker room about how Bayley has no choice but to pick Reha for WrestleMania and that they all know she can never beat her.
Bayley also confronted the buddies about what they used to say behind her back while talking to each other in Japanese.
Bayley Makes Her Decision
After Bayley confronted her friends, The Kabuki Warriors unleashed an attack on their leader from the back with Sky directing the traffic.
But Bayley knew she had that coming and boy she did come prepared. Bayley fought back against the Iyo Sky and The Kabuki and picked Sky as her opponent for WrestleMania.
Dakota Kai helps Bayley
On the next week’s episode of SmackDown, following the attack from Damage, Ctrl Bayley confronted Dakota saying that she did not tell her anything knowing about what they were cooking behind her back the whole time.
Dakota played innocent in the eyes of Bayley saying it is all because of the Kabuki Warriors and that they have brainwashed Iyo too.
Later on the show, Dokata helped Bayley when she launched the attack on the Damage Ctrl with a steel chair when they tried to get Bayley in the ring.
Dakota Kai Betrays Bayley in their Tag Match against The Kabuki Warriors
On the following week’s episode of SmackDown, Dakota came rushing to Bayley backstage asking for help against the Damage Ctrl. To which Bayley said that It’s been going on for weeks and she cannot trust anyone right now.
In about two weeks after that, Bayley teamed up with Dakota Kai to take on the Kabuki Warriors in a tag match on SmackDown. During the match when Bayley attempted to tag her only remaining friend Dakota jumped off the ring apron, berating Bayley in the process.
Bayley then attacked Dakota Kai with her back against the wall but the numbers game from Damage Ctrl was too much for her to handle alone.
Bayley gets back up, but Damage Ctrl stands tall
Later in the coming week, Bayley vows to the teardown Damage Ctrl and finish what she started.
Following the betrayal of Dakota Kai, Bayley goes one-on-one with her on SmackDown where she gets attacked by other members of the Damage Ctrl right when she is about to pick up the win against Kai in the middle of the ring.
Right at that moment when Bayley was down and out came Naomi to her rescue, who also fell victim to Damage Ctrl.
