The biggest wrestling company in the whole world is about to take the to a whole new level that no one has seen before. Starting in Jan 2025 we will be seeing WWE on Netflix every week with their flagship show RAW along with SmackDown and all the PLEs — which means that you will be watching shows like “Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series” all with your existing Netflix plan.

Why are they moving WWE on Netflix?

WWE has been a global phenomenon for decades. The company has always tried to edge on the latest and best technologies out there to make the product better for the current time. This is not just for now, WWE even pioneered the Pay-per-view back in the day when no one was even talking about it so much.

In this age of time, People are more and more moving to OTT streaming services rather than traditional cable TV. Now this thing is a win-win for both the consumer and the creator as they now can create a better product without any limitation and viewers can watch it from nearly any place in the world.

Also what many people don’t know is that Netflix is also a production company and they create their own Netflix originals as well along with legally acquiring exclusive rights to many TV shows and movies including “Breaking Bad, Squid Game, Bridgerton, La Casa De Papel (Money Heist), Stranger Things, The Witcher, Lucifer, Red Notice, Wednesday” and so many more.

Now it has been more than 16 years since WWE went PG on July 22, 2008, and we have seen how WWE is trying to push their creative limits since the start of this year or I would say ever since last year when Punk returned. We have also seen how WWE completely pushed the limits of their PG product during a Raw on the road to WrestleMania earlier this when The Rock attacked Cody Rhode.

People have been buzzing ever since if the PG Era is finally over. I think could be the final chapter toward that goal of ending the WWE PG product entirely.

Creative freedom for WWE on Netflix

WWE has been surrounded by a few competitors who are continuously doing storying lines and television that is PG-14. Now with fans more eager than ever since Triple H took over the things that they will now finally going to see blood being fully brought back to WWE TV.

You might have noticed recently that WWE also has been experimenting with new camera angles and techniques to improve its television programming ever since Kevin Dunn left the company earlier this year.

WWE has been including a lot of unique backstage camera angles showcasing superstars coming out from the gorilla position. They have also been using new camera angles during the matches as well that kind of looks really good to me especially that new referee cam that they introduced at SummerSlam.

Now, we all saw what happened during night one of WrestleMania when The Rock was beating the heck out of Cody Rhodes during the night when of WrestleMania when he even went on to curse the referee as well.

“WWE Chief content officer and Head of creative” Triple appeared on The Pat McAfee Show a month ago where he talked about a lot of things happening in the WWE right now, including how FOX, USA Network, or Peacock simply don’t allow anything that is not PG and they have to cut it right away.

Currently on Fox if the crowd chants “Holy Shit or something more worst” they just take that audio, sometimes they take the picture and the audio off and its just black screen”. But on Netflix, Things will be uncensored and uncut, what ever happens on camera (audio or video) will not be edited or deleted.

With all that being happening since the better part of this year, I am pretty sure that programming will go even wild when they move WWE on Netflix.

A list of a few other things that can also happen when they move WWE on Netflix:

  1. Less or No Commercials (Which means more TV time for new talent)
  2. Curse words
  3. Fewer or No more time restrictions

How much $$$ is involved in this deal of moving WWE to Netflix?

This epic deal of moving WWE on Netflix is estimated to be around $5 billion over the course of 10 years beginning in January 2025.

How are they planning to move WWE on Netflix?

Starting from next year Jan 2025 WWE will switch to Netflix and shut down WWE Network forever as this year’s Survivor Series will be marked as the final WWE PLE to be aired on WWE Network.

“WWE Chief content officer and Head of creative” Triple appeared on The Pat McAfee Show a month ago where he also discussed how things are going to be moved to Netflix.

When we move over to Netflix in January, we will immediately when they pull that trigger be on live with Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and the PLEs including WrestleMania in 80 percent of the world outside the US immediately which is you know right now we’re just individual deals so every place is slightly different they’ll all transfer over time until 100% of it is on Netflix internationally.

WWE Royal Rumble 2025 will be the first-ever PLE that will be aired on Netflix across the world except the USA, following their partnership.

WWE will also move all their exclusive and original content from the WWE Network to Netflix including “WWE’s award-winning documentaries, original series, and any other forthcoming projects.”

My Thoughts

I’ve been a fan of WWE products for the last 17 or 18 years now. The WWE programming started to get a bit off in the last few years of the McMahon era. A lot of talent was getting released from the company very frequently and WWE was nowhere seen interested in pushing new talent from NXT to the main roster on RAW and SmackDown.

Now with this new management and creative ideas WWE once again seems to be firing on all cylinders, and all of what we are seeing is just the tip of the iceberg of what we are going to see when they move WWE on Netflix.

That is all from me for now, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and I will catch you soon with some more new and exciting stories from WWE.
