Netflix has officially announced the release of the Minecraft animated series. The series is set to feature an original story with new characters. It will be produced by WildBrain Studios, the animation studio behind shows like “Sonic Prime” and “Blaze and the Monster Machines”.

The trailer of the Minecraft animated series begins with a green creeper character from the game walking into the middle of the black screen before exploding into a pixelated grey cloud.
Once the fog clears, the camera sweeps into an underground cavern filled with lava. The camera moves closer toward the red Netflix “N” logo on top of a volcanic rock before cutting to the words “Netflix x Minecraft”.

Minecraft movie coming in 2025
As you might know already, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment are working on a Minecraft feature film with an expected debut in April 2025.
The movie will star Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Danielle Brooks. It is being directed by Jared Hess. Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer have written the screenplay for the movie.
It was not clear if the film’s team would be involved with the Netflix animated series or not.
What can we expect from Minecraft Animated Series?
Movie and animated series coming from game studios are a successful business in Hollywood at the moment. Many big gaming companies have already jumped into the pool or are rumored to be on the way.
The Last of Us and Fallout both made a huge name for themselves and have gained a rating of more than 8 stars on IMDb.
Netflix has already tased a huge success with the animated version of a few beloved games inspired by Arcane: League of Legends, Castlevania, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
My Thoughts
I think that the Minecraft animated series has great potential for being a global success. Minecraft is already one of the most played in the world, and If they are able to deliver something that is good in terms of story-telling and visuals then there is no way that they can mess this up.
