As many of you may know by now “The Legendary” John Cena will officially be retiring from the WWE and in-ring competition by the end of 2025. Cena who made his debut in 2002 has been a part of the WWE Universe for the last 23 years. During his tenure in WWE where he was very close to getting released from the company, Cena somehow managed to find a way to connect himself to the WWE Universe making himself one the most popular person not just in WWE or Wrestling but in all of sports and entertainment around the world.
I’ve been a big Cena fanboy for more than 18 years now since I started watching WWE. Cena has not just been a wrestling guy who appeared on the weekly show for me. The guy has taught me lessons that I might have not learned in school or at home.
Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect. They might just be words for anyone. But for me or millions of other fans around the world, it is what’s carrying us through the most difficult times of our lives. Today, I have decided to pen down the entire farewell tour of my childhood superhero John Cena.
John Cena officially announces his retirement
John Cena announced his retirement last year at the WWE Money in the Bank 2024 PLE. Cena was not scheduled to appear on the show, making his first WWE TV appearance since WrestleMania XL where he helped Cody Rhodes against the Bloodline.
Cena came down to the ring wearing his all-new “The Last Time Is Now” gear as officially announced his retirement from WWE by the end of 2025. He then told fans that he is retiring from the WWE but he will be doing a farewell tour throughout the year 2025. Cena also unveiled that he will be appearing on the WWE Raw debut on Netflix where he will officially kick off his farewell tour. It was later revealed that Cena would be working on around 30-40 dates in 2025.

After announcing his retirement, Cena made his first appearance back to WWE on the WWE Raw debut on Netflix. Cena talked about winning his record-breaking historic 17th WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He then unveiled his participation in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match, saying that he has not won a singles match in 2446 days and has to earn this opportunity.
Cena also talked about winning the WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 or WWE Money In The Bank 2025 in order to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for the 17th time in his career. For those who might not know, Cena won his most recent World Heavyweight Championship in 2017 when he defeated AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble (2017).

After winning 2 Royal Rumble matches in his absolutely legendary career, Cena entered the 2025 Men’s WWE Royal Rumble match at No.23. Cena made 3 eliminations in the Rumble match and was one of the final two superstars in the match. After spending 30:31 in the match he was eliminated by Jey Uso.
John Cena enters his last Elimination Chamber
After coming close to victory in the Royal Rumble match, John Cena appeared on the Royal Rumble 2025 Post-Show saying that he will be entering the 2025 Men’s Elimination Chamber match. Cena did not participate in the qualifying match saying that after spending 23 years in WWE, has earned that spot.
Cena then participated in the Elimination Chamber match where outlasted all the other participants to win the match and punch his ticket to WrestleMania 41 in an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes. Cena had a little moment with Rhodes following his win before he accepted the Rock’s offer and turned on him by hitting him with a low blow. This moment created a major shockwave all around the world as Cena turned heel for the first time since 2003.
