The whole world is in shock as John Cena officially announces his retirement from WWE. The 16-time World Heavyweight Champion made a surprise appearance on the WWE Money in the Bank 2024 to confirm the news.
Although the announcement is confirmed and official, Cena is not immediately retiring from WWE. Cena has planned a whole retirement tour that is set to take place till the end of 2025.

The Wrestling Legend ‘John Cena’ along with his retirement has announced a complete farewell tour which might include a possible match for his 17 World Championship. Cena has also told the WWE Universe that he will be a part of the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
His retirement match won’t take place at WrestleMania 41 but this upcoming Mania will be the last where he competes as a competitor.
While taking to the WWE Universe he also said that he wants to be involved in future TV appearances as Raw moves to Netflix in January.
He also stated that he had seen incredible “waves of prosperity” during his long and legendary time in WWE.
Cena then made a statement that WWE Universe was in no way ready.
“I am here tonight to announce that in Las Vegas Wrestlemania 2025 will be the last WrestleMania I compete in,” Cene later said during his surprise appearance on MITB.
The audience present at the venue then started chanting “Thank you Cena” in response to the wrestling legend’s announcement.
Cena then said a few more lines before he left the ring.
“What an incredible gesture of kindness. I wanna say thank you,” Cena said.
Cena made his appearance wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the words “The Last Time is Now” and his trademark “jorts” [denim shorts] that he wore for a better part of his entire career in WWE.
The Champ then thanked the WWE Universe by saying:
“Thank you so much for letting me play in the house that you built for so many years”.

John Cena’s Retirement Tour Details
- Cena has a schedule of 30-40 dates in 2025
- He will not be retiring at WrestleMania 41 but it will be his last WrestleMania as a competitor
- Cena will retire his legendary jorts in-ring gear following his retirement. Subsequent TV appearances will be in a suit and tie
- He is open to going for World Title 17
- Cena hints at entering the Rumble to get to 17
I am honestly in complete disbelief as John Cena officially announces his retirement from WWE. John Cena who debuted in WWE on June 27, 2002, has been the franchise star of WWE for the last 20+ years.
There might be fans out there thinking that, Now is not the time. But this was supposed to happen now or a couple of years down the road.
For now, all I can say is we just have to accept what is ahead of us and enjoy these last few moments we have left to see The Champ in the ring.
