Avatar: The Last Airbender – Season 1 Review

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Season 1 is a live-action remake of its animated series from 2005. Years after its success Nickelodeon has finally recreated the show with the real characters from today’s world. The love and hate story of all four nations from this universe has been portrayed in a new and fresh way for both the new audience and as well as old die-hard fans like me.

You can watch the series anytime on Netflix. This is my non-spoiler review after watching the complete series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Season 1
Avatar with his friends Katara and Sokka

Storyline:

This series follows exact same story as its animated series where the entire human civilization is divided into four nations based on the four classical elements: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads.

Everyone in the world is somehow linked to one of these nations, either as a friend or an enemy. Also in each of these nations, there are some people known as “benders” who can manipulate and control one of the four elements.

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Season 1 kicks off with the Firelord Sozin who has war upon the other three nations to capture the avatar and conquer the world. His main objective is to finish the avatar who is the only person who can master all four elements and stop him from his evil objectives.

But the fire lord knew about the Avatar and decided to kill the entire nation of airbenders before he could even reveal himself. The elders of Air Nomads want Aang to fight among them in order to stop the fire nation.

But the only problem is that the Aang is only 12 years old. Although he is an avatar who can master all four elements to restore order, he has a lot to learn about himself and begin an avatar. Both mentally and physically.

Before Aang could discover his true potential and stand against the fire nation they attacked the air temple. Aang got trapped in the sea during a rain storm and wasn’t able to be at the temple when the air nation attacked them.

The story kicks off when the two characters Katara and Sokka discover Aang 100 years after that attack.

Poster for Season 2 & 3 Announcement by Netflix

Announcement of seasons 2 & 3:

Just a few days after following the huge success of season one, Netflix has already confirmed that 2 and 3 will take place as well.

My Thoughts:

I have been a fan of the animated series by Nickelodeon for years now, and after seeing this live-action I think that they have nailed it. I really like how they found the right people with similar facial and body and recreated the characters how they used to look in the cartoons all those years ago.

The story is well thought out and portrayed brilliantly by all the crew. If you are a fan of fiction stories like me I would really recommend you to check it out.
