Money in the Bank is one of the most exciting things in the calendar year of WWE. From jaw-dropping moments to history-making wins this event has seen it all. But the fun does not end there, after winning the MITB the contender has a full year to cash in that briefcase anytime and anywhere.
This one briefcase has been a reason for some of the craziest moments in the history of WWE. After going through each and every Money in the Bank cash-ins we have come up with our list of “Top 10 Money in the Bank cash-ins in the history of WWE”.
10. Big E (Monday Night Raw – Sep 13, 2021)
Starting off this list is the Big E who won his MITB in 2016 by competing against the following 8 opponents “Ricochet, John Morrison, Riddle, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, King Nakamura, and Seth Rollins”.
Big E held the contract for 57 days before cashing in on Bobby Lashley on an episode of Monday Night Raw in Sept 2021.
Lashley who had already competed against the Randy Orton was unable to walk on his left foot. Big E who was a competitor on SmackDown made his way to the ring to cash in his moment on an injured champion.
Big E successfully cashed in his MITB contract and went on to be the WWE Champion.
9. Iyo Sky’s Money in the Bank cash-in (SummerSlam 2023)
At SummerSlam 2023 Iyo Sky along with her then-teammate and friend Bayley marched down to the ring to cash in her MITB against the newly crowned Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.
Bayley using Sky’s MITB attacked Flair and Asuka who were the other two competitors in the Women’s Championship match that had just ended. Belair who just won the Women’s Championship was forced to defend the gold with an injured knee.
Sky attacked Belair with her MITB from the back right on her knee and ended the match with her signature over the moonsault.
Iyo Sky successfully cashed in her MITB contract and went on to be the WWE Women’s Champion.
8. The Miz (Monday Night Raw – Nov 2010)
In Nov 2010 on an episode of Raw, Orton was set to defend his WWE Championship against the Leader of The Nexus.
Orton went on to successfully defend his championship. Nexus who attacked Randy before the match had also injured his right leg. Orton could barely walk on his leg after his match against Barrett which opened the door of opportunity for The Miz.
Miz walked down to the ring and made cash-in official against Orton. Randy gave Miz a tough short battle before Miz eventually used his signature Skull Crushing Finale to finish the match and become the WWE Champion.
7. Liv Morgan’s Money in the Bank cash-in (Money in the Bank 2022)
Liv won her first-ever MITB in 2022 by competing against “Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Becky Lynch, Lacey Evans, Raquel Rodriguez, and Shotzi”.
Liv went through war against the 6 other womens competing in the match, but her night wasn’t over yet. Just 2 hours after winning her first-ever MITB Liv marched down to the ring to cash in against Ronda Rousey who had just defeated Natalya by submission.
Liv and cashed in her MITB with her sitting in the front row to become a WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.
6. Damian Priest (WrestleMania 40)
Damian Priest who won his MITB contract in 2023 decided to cash in his moment in the grandest possible way at the grandest stage of them all.
After winning the MITB, Priest held the contract in his possession for 281 days making him the longest time a male wrestler has held the contract. Priest eventually cashed in his MITB at the Night 2 of WrestleMania XL against Drew McIntyre.
McIntyre had just won the championship from Seth Rollins but then got into heat with CM Punk who cost him the championship by unleashing a blindsided attack on him.
5. Dolph Ziggler (Monday Night Raw – April 2013)
Night After WrestleMania holds a special place in the hearts of the WWE Universe. The night is known for some of the craziest Raw to ever take place. On a night just like that after WrestleMania 29, Dolph Ziggler made his way to the ring to cash in his MITB contract against Alberto Del Rio.
What so special about this cash-in was the lively crowd was behind Ziggler the moment since his music began. It was a simple MITB cash-in but the roaring crowd made it extremely special.
4. Randy Orton’s Money in the Bank cash-in (SummerSlam 2013)
On SummerSlam 2013 Danial Bryan defeated John Cena to become the WWE Champion. Moments after his match Cena ended, Randy Orton made his way to the ring along with his MITB contract.
But seeing the determination of Brayn to face him, Randy decides to go back. But just when he was making his way back, Triple H who was the special guest referee attacked Byrayn with a Pedigree. Randy then officially cashed in his MITB contract to win the WWE Championship.
The match between Daniel Bryan and John Cena would later be named 2013 Match of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
What was so special about this cash-in was the heel turn of Triple H, aligning himself with Randy to create The Authority. This MITB cash-in would later go on to create Bryan as one of the biggest baby faces in the history of WWE.
The story would ultimately end on WrestleMania 30 when Bryan first defeated Triple H to become a participant in the main event where he defeated Randy Orton and Batista in a triple threat match to finally become a WWE Champion.
A moment known as “Miracle on Bourbon Street” in WWE Universe.
3. Dean Ambrose (Money in the Bank 2016)
MITB 2016 is that one and only night in the history of WWE when all three members of The Shield became WWE Champions.
Dean Ambrose who had won his MITB earlier that night decided to cash in his contract on that same night. Seth had just defeated Reigns to win back his WWE Championship that he never lost but was forced to vacate due to a knee injury. After his win against Reigns, Seth was celebrating in the ring with Dean Ambrose’s music started playing.
Rollins was looking at the entrance ramp waiting for him to come down when he bot hit by the briefcase from behind by Ambrose reminding him of what he did to him. Dean would then go on to cash in his MITB contract to become WWE Champion.
2. Edge (New Year’s Revolution 2006)
The first MITB cash-in is to date known as one the best in the history of WWE. Edge who had won his MITB contract at WrestleMania 21 against the following five other competitors “Carlito, Chris Masters, Shawn Michaels, Kane, and Kurt Angle” would go on to cash in against John Cena at New Year’s Revolution 2006.
Cena who had just defended his WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match against “Carlito, Chris Masters, Shawn Michaels, Kane, and Kurt Angle” was forced to defend against Edge.
Edge speared Cena twice before pinning him to become the WWE Champion.
1. Seth Rollins (WrestleMania 31)
The final MITB cash-in on our list is without a doubt the biggest of them all. Seth Rollins who won his MITB contract in 2014 cashed in the biggest way possible on WrestleMania 31.
During the main event of WrestleMania 31 between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, Seth saw an opening when both men were down and out. Rollins first cashed in his MITB contract to turn that ongoing singles match into a triple-threat match. He then stomped Reigns after he had speared Lesnar to win the match.
Rollins became the first person in history to cash in a MITB contract at a WrestleMania main event and walk out as the WWE Champion. This cash-in by Rollins is also known as ”The Heist of the Century” in WWE.
