Back to Where It All Began

Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 41

After losing his throne at WrestleMania 40, Reigns entered the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match, where he crossed paths with both Seth Rollins and CM Punk. Having an already existing history, all three of them went at each other. Punk took advantage of the heat between Rollins and Reigns and eliminated them both before he also got eliminated from the match as well. They then also went at each other after that, with Rollins leaving Reigns on the ground after stomping him into the steel steps.

Punk and Rollins then had a steel cage match on an episode of WWE Monday Night Raw in Madison Square Garden, where Reigns made his return and attacked both of them. They then had a feud which led to a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 41. It was later revealed that the match would be the main event of WrestleMania 41 – Night 1.

Prior to this feud, Punk helped Reigns defeat the new Bloodline of Solo Sikoa in a WarGames match at the 2024 Survivor Series: WarGames PLE — in return for a favor. Punk cashed in his favor, which turned out to be that Heyman would be in his corner at WrestleMania 41.

Reigns walked into his record 10th WrestleMania main event but lost the match after his once-upon-a-time friend, Paul Heyman joined Seth Rollins and turned his back on both Reigns and Punk.
