After waiting nearly 2 years, the Peaky Blinders fans have finally taken out the pocket watch and dusted off their hats as news finally broke out that the Peaky Blinders movie is on the way.
The news was released and confirmed by the creator of the world-famous series “Steven Knight” himself, Knight also confirmed that filming for the upcoming Peaky Blinders Movie will begin at Digbeth Loc Studios in September 2024. The movie can potentially grow the film industry in the city with 760 new jobs.
Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy is reprising his fan’s beloved role, Tommy Shelby for the upcoming film as part of the hit series Peaky Blinders.
Ever since the show began in 2013, the series has grown its fanbase slowly but steadily during its 6-year long run, it made its presence felt on Netflix.
Later, Knight noted that the appeal of making a film out of the series comes from wanting “Peaky Blinders” fans to watch it together in a theater.
The Universe of Peaky Blinders:
The story is set in 1919, in the aftermath of the Great War, Knight’s show tackles criminal gangs fighting for survival in a nation rocked by economic upheaval. The show focuses on one of the most powerful gangs of the time, Peaky Blinders, run by returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family.
During a conversation with Variety‘s Actors on Actors between Murphy and “Peaky Blinders” superfan Margot Robbie last year.
Margot mentioned the series, saying:
“Can we please talk about Tommy fucking Shelby for just one minute?”
She then asked him about a potential spinoff movie, begging him to do one.
To which Murphy replied, saying:
“I mean, I’m open to the idea.
I’ve always thought that if there’s more story to tell.”
As of now, the only thing we know is that the movie will come out for sure. And also the fact that the script for the movie could be finalized and ready as of now because the film is scheduled to start shooting in September of this year.
