WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII took the entire WWE universe into a time machine as the show kicked off by showcasing some epic moments from the WWE Saturday Night’s over the years. The show then then went into the arena revealing the retro theme for the event. WWE built the entire theme of the arena in a retro style, even using the old WWE logo. The PLE took place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y. This is the exact same place where the first-ever Saturday Night’s Main Event took place in May 1985.
The show began with backstage video clips showing the arrival of the WWE superstars into the arena. Cody Rhodes was seen carrying a box that Triple H gave him. Jesse Ventura then arrived at the arena to join Joe Tessitore to host the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII. Michael Cole’s partner in crime, Pat McAfee then arrived on the show as the special guest commentator. Cole also revealed that McAfee will be joining him on Jan 6th when Raw debuts on Netflix.
Sami Zayn battles Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre made his way to the ringside for the first match of the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII. The hide-and-seek games are over for McIntyre as he battles Zayn one-on-one. Zayn decided to take the fight to McIntyre before the bell even rang. Remember this all started when McIntyre made his return on the Dec, 2 episode of WWE Raw and attacked Zayn with a Claymore Kick.
Both McIntyre and Zayn took the fight to each other, Zayn delivered a moonsault to McIntyre outside the ring. McIntyre using his power threw Zayn over the announce table. McIntyre tried to deliver a Claymore Kick to Zayn, but he countered with a boot to the face and then delivered a Blue Thunder Bomb for a very close count.
During the ending moments of the match, McIntyre ran outside the ring and when Zayn went after him McIntyre came back into the ring. While Zayn was trying to get back into the ring McIntyre delivered a Claymore Kick to him to win the match.

“Women’s World Champion” Liv Morgan battles Iyo Sky
After winning the Battle Royal on Nov 4th edition of Monday Night Raw, Iyo Sky now finds herself in a singles match against “Women’s World Champion” Liv Morgan for a shot at her championship. Iyo using her speed took the fight to Morgan. The mind was also a part of the match since Sky’s team beat Morgan’s team in the WarGames match at the WWE Survivor Series: WarGames (2024). Sky delivered an amazing series of German suplexes as she kept Morgan on the hook for all three suplexes.
The crowd chanted “Let’s Go Iyo”.
Both Morgan and Sky then had a couple of close counts. Sky then tried to deliver an Over The Moonsault, but Liv got her boots up. Morgan then delivers her signature Oblivion to win the match. Just as Morgan was leaving the ringside along with Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio, Reha Ripley then appeared to let the champion know who is now next in line for her Women’s World Champion.

Gunther (C) Vs Finn Bálor Vs Damian Priest – World Heavyweight Championship
After Judgement Day attacked Guther on two separate occasions, first on the Dec 2nd edition of WWE Raw and second on the Dec 9th edition of WWE Raw when they also attacked Damian Priest — Finn Bálor added this World Heavyweight Championship making it now a triple threat match.
All three men took the fight to each other, Priest also delivered a suicide dive on Gunther — outside the ring. Gunther also locked a Sleeper hold on Priest during the match but it was not enough to keep him down. Priest broke to hold to deliver his signature South Of Heaven Chokeslam before Bálor got back into the match. Bálor tried to deliver the Coup de Grâce but Gunter stopped him on the top rope to dave his championship.
Priest then delivered the Razor’s Edge to Gunther before Bálor delivered the Coup de Grâce for close count which Priest interrupted. Priest then delivered the South Of Heaven Chokeslam on Bálor for a close count, which Gunther interrupted as grabbed Priest out of the ring.
Gunther then delivered a powerbomb on Priest onto the steel steps, he then delivered a dropkick to Bálor along with a powerbomb to secure the win.

Chelsea Green and Michin battle to become the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion
Chelsea Green along with Piper Niven left no chance to distract the referee and attack on Michin from behind. Green accidentally took out Niven with a suicide dive allowing Michin to take advantage as she took out Niven with her signature Eat Defeat outside the ring. Michin then tried to rally but Green managed to hit her with the Unprettier to pick up the win and become the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion in history.
I loved the way how the match ended. Congrats to Green!

Cody Rhodes defends his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII
Jesse Ventura joined Michael Cole and Pat McAfee for the main event between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes on the return of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII. Cody arrived for the match wearing the Classic WWE Winged Eagle Championship that was gifted to him by Triple H just for the one night, tonight.
Rhodes took the fight to Owens right from the moment when the bell rang. Owens was in no mood for hesitation as looked to take out the champion. Owens even delivered The Bionic Elbow to Rhodes, a move made famous by “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Cody then went for a close count as he delivered Disaster Kick to Kevin Owens.
Rhodes then tried to deliver Cody Cutter to Owens before he moved out from the ringside. Owens then took Rhodes to the top of the commentary table, where Rhodes managed to deliver an RKO to Kevin Owens.
Rhodes then delivered a Cody Cutter to Owens as both men entered the ring. Owens got a close count on Rhodes after he delivered a Fishermen Buster.
The Crowd Chanted: This is awesome as Owens sent Rhodes into the referee Charles Robinson. Owen then delivered the Stunner to Rhodes, but there was no official in the ring.
A new official then came to the ring but Rhodes accidentally took him out as well while he was trying to deliver a Cody Cutter. Owens then took the opportunity to bring a steel chair into the ring but Cody countered with a Cross Rhodes to pin Kevin Owens. Rhodes then celebrated with WWE Universe holding the WWE Winged Eagle Championship.
Kevin Owens also attacked Cody Rhodes after the match ended. Owens went too far as he delivered The Piledriver to Rhodes — a move that is banned in the WWE.

My thoughts on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII
The return of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII was nothing less than an epic shot of nostalgia for the WWE fans in attendance or watching at home from around the world. Overall the show was really amazing.
WWE has started to join the dots for future rivalries, as we saw the faceoff between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley after Morgan defeated Sky for the Women’s World Championship. I’ve been dying to see a rivalry between Morgan and Ripley. If WWE is able to play the cards well, which I am pretty they can — we could see an epic match between both womens at WrestleMania 41. I think there cannot be a better opponent for both of them as they a very deep connection with each other over the past couple of years.
The World Heavyweight Championship match was a great showdown between Gunther, Bálor, and Priest. Priest’s and Bálor’s personal vendettas were also something that the fans could be looking forward to as well. I think this rivalry between the two could also stretch out to a singles match between the two at WrestleMania 41.
Drew McIntyre who has been a victim of The Bloodline over the years, now finds himself in a place where he is only concerned about hurting the crew for everything they did to him, including coasting him a Singles match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle 2022.
