WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Ratings, and Highlights From Apr. 4
With just a little over two weeks away from WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, WWE SmackDown is headed to Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL.
Announced in advance of Friday’s show:
- Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk are on WWE SmackDown
- Rey Fenix makes his WWE Debut
- B-Fab vs. Naomi – Singles match
- Motor City Machine Guns vs. #DIY – Tag Team Championship No.1 Contenders Match
- Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu – United States Championship No.1 Contenders Last Man Standing Match
Mr. Main Event comes to WWE SmackDown in Chicago
After shocking the entire world by heading to his first-ever WrestleMania main event in Las Vegas last week, CM Punk returned to his hometown of Chicago from where it all began for him. Punk then thanked his wife AJ, his dog Larry, and all his Chicago fans for helping him get to the WrestleMania main event.
Paul Heyman then arrived on the scene and asked Punk to tell him about what favor he wanted before Roman Reigns arrived on WWE SmackDown. Punk left the ring saying he wanted to tell both Reigns and Heyman about the favor.
Ratings: 8 /10
Rey Fenix vs. Nathan Frazer on WWE SmackDown
WWE SmackDown then featured a singles match between NXT’s Nathan Frazer and Rey Fenix — who made his WWE debut.
Frazer delivered an incredible performance in the match but it was not enough as Fenix picked up a big win in his WWE debut.
Result: Rey Fenix defeated Nathan Frazer
Ratings: 7 /10

Backstage segment ft. Legado Del Fantasma
WWE SmackDown then went backstage where Santos Escobar asked Berto to beat him and prove that he was better than Rey Fenix by facing him in a singles match.
Backstage segment ft. Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre then appeared in a backstage segment talking about his history with Damian Priest. McIntyre potentially warned Priest about his actions from last week here on WWE SmackDown and before that including last year at WrestleMania XL.
LA Knight vs. Tama Tonga on WWE SmackDown
Braun Strowman appeared in an interview segment saying that he would beat Jacob Fatu to head to WrestleMania. Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga then also appeared on the segment trying to mess with Strowman before LA Knight also arrived on the scene and got himself in a match against Tonga.
Solo Sikoa tried to interfere in the match on multiple occasions but it all got backfired as Knight found himself a way to get the win.
Result: LA Knight defeated Tama Tonga

Backstage segment ft. Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins
WWE SmackDown then went backstage where Paul Heyman appeared in an interview segment saying whatever CM Punk wants in his favor my answer is yes. Meanwhile, Seth Rollins also arrived on the scene saying he was also here to know what that favor is.
Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton meet in the same ring on WWE SmackDown
Ahead of their big WWE Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton meet each other in the same ring for an interview with Wade Barrett.
Both Flair and Stratton fired a few shots at each other before the fans turned on Flair and started booing her. Stratton then took things personally with Flair mocking her about her 3 ex-boyfriends saying she ‘0-3’.

Backstage segment ft. Nick Aldis
WWE SmackDown GM Nick Aldis then announced that teams from both WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown will compete in a Women’s Tag Team Gauntlet match next week here on WWE SmackDown to challenge Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez for their Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
Motor City Machine Guns vs. #DIY – Tag Team Championship No.1 Contenders Match
Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa tried to use every underhand tactic that they would but nothing really worked out as their plan got backfired on them when Ciampa hit himself right in the exposed turnbuckle allowing Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin to pick up the win.
Result: Motor City Machine Guns defeated #DIY to become the No.1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Ratings: 8 /10
Backstage segment ft. Pretty Deadly, The Miz, and Carmelo Hayes
WWE SmackDown then went backstage where The Miz and Carmelo Hayes mocked Pretty Deadly for last week’s loss in their home country. Pretty Deadly fired back at them saying they are not even a real tag team.
B-fab vs. Naomi on WWE SmackDown
Naomi attacked both B-fab and Michin last week here on WWE Smackdown, which also cost Michin her the match against Charlotte Flair leading to this singles match. Jade Cargill gave Naomi a little taste of her own medicine as she attacked her from behind before the match even started.
The attack didn’t cause any problem for Naomi who still managed to win the match. Cargill once again attacked Naomi after the match but the security personnel saved her. GM Nick Aldis then arrived on the scene and announced that Naomi would face Cargill at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
Result: Naomi defeated B-fab

Backstage segment ft. Damian Priest
WWE SmackDown then went backstage where Damian Priest stated Drew McIntyre always screwed on himself for CM Punk and then blamed him. Priest then called out McIntyre for next week and challenged him to a match at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
Kevin Owens brings sad news for everyone
Kevin Owens then met GM Nick Aldis in the middle of the ring and announced that he had been dealing with a neck injury for the last four months and he now has to go and get neck surgery. Owens also said that will not be at WrestleMania 41.
Randy Orton then also arrived on the scene and had a little moment with Owens as he left he ring. Aldis then told Orton that he no longer had an opponent for WrestleMania before Orton him with an RKO.
Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu – United States Championship No.1 Contenders Last Man Standing Match
WWE SmackDown then featured a Last Man Standing match where the winner will head to WrestleMania 41 for a shot at the United States Championship.
Both Strowman and Fatu absolutely destroyed each other but in the end, Fatu became the last man standing after an epic war.
That should have been named the Last Monster Standing Match. Pure BANGER!
Result: Jacob Fatu defeated Braun Strowman

CM Punk Calls his Favor
Roman Reigns then came down to the ring and called out CM Punk to the ring to unveil his favor. Seth Rollins also showed up before Punk saying he also wants to hear what this favor is.
Punk then came down to the ring and unveiled his favor that he wants Paul Heyman in his corner at WrestleMania 41 instead of Reigns. Reigns asked Heyman to deny this favor but he refused. Meanwhile Punk hit Reigns with a GTS as Heyman and Rollins looked on.

My thoughts on this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown:
WWE SmackDown turned out to be a great show this week with major WrestleMania decisions and announcements being made. Every match on the card was delivered great by all the performers. It certainly looks like everyone is now pushing hard to that one big spot on the WrestleMania card.
Just like I said in my previous few posts WWE has been holding tight on the storylines for the biggest show of the year and now we have finally reached the spot where are about to cash in on that.
