WWE Raw debut on Netflix – Match Card, Storylines and Predictions

WWE Raw debut on Netflix is an upcoming WWE event set to take place on January 6, 2025, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The show will mark the beginning of WWE shows on Netflix. WWE is set to bring their weekly shows like Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, and NXT, along with PLEs like Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and WrestleMania.

It was first announced on Jan 23, 2014, via TKO Group Holdings that Netflix has acquired the broadcasting rights for WWE Raw along with PLEs and various other WWE Originals. As of now, the deal is locked for 10 years, with $5 billion.

WWE has made big-time bookings for this upcoming show that will change the entire landscape of sports and entertainment forever. Big-time WWE Legends like John Cena, The Rock, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold might be appearing on the show. WWE and TKO are going all in, booking the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California for this as I mentioned earlier — it is an indoor arena that was open just four months ago in August 2024.

This show will also kick off the Farewell tour of WWE Legend John Cena, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Multi-platinum recording artist Travis Scott will also be appearing on the show to perform his new song which will be the new theme song for the WWE Monday Night Raw on Netflix.

“The OTC” Roman Reigns goes one-on-one against his former enforcer who now claims to be the “New Tribal Chief” Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat | Credits WWE & Netflix

Roman Reigns battles Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat for the Ula Fala and recognition as Tribal Chief of the Anoaʻi family at WWE Raw debut on Netflix:

After losing his crown at WWE WrestleMania XL, Roman Reigns made his return during the main event of WWE SummerSlam 2024 during the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. Reigns came out and attacked Sikoa, who was claiming to be the new Tribal Chief of the Anoaʻi family.

Ever since Reigns went into hiatus after his Undisputed WWE Championship loss at WrestleMania XL, Sikoa attacked Jimmy Uso and Paul Heyman. Sikoa then brought his own New Bloodline of Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu. Sikoa then unveiled that he now also has custody of the Ula Fala, revealing himself as the New Tribal Chief.

After making his return at SummerSlam 2024, Reigns teamed up with Rhodes at WWE Bad Blood 2024 where they defeated Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in a Tag team match. The show also marked the return of the “Final Boss” for the first time since Raw after WrestleMania. Jimmy Uso also returned at the Bad Blood when he took out the Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa at the ringside.

Reigns and Jimmy then started assembling the OG Bloodline once again as they brought back Jimmy’s twin brother Jey Uso. The Usos and Reigns then teamed up to face the New Bloodline of Solo Sikoa in a Six-man tag team match at WWE Crown Jewel 2024. Unfortunately, the OG Bloodline lost the match due to interference by Sami Zayn, who accidentally hit Reigns with the Helluva Kick.

The OG Bloodline then assembled all of its members to face the New Bloodline of Solo Sikoa WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024. CM Punk along with The OG Bloodline defeated the New Bloodline of Solo Sikoa.

After losing the WarGames, The New Bloodline of Solo Sikoa wasn’t stopping. They attacked both Knight and Andrade on the Dec 6th edition of WWE SmackDown, with Solo Sikoa still claiming to be the Tribal Chief.

Then on the Dec 13th edition of WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns challenged Solo Sikoa to a Tribal Combat for the Ula Fala and the title of Tribal Chief at the premiere of WWE Raw on Netflix on Jan 6th, where the winner becomes the only Tribal Chief. Then during the Dec 16th edition of WWE Raw, Joe Tessitore on the commentary announced that the match has now been made official.

Solo also talked about his match during his promo on Dec 20th edition of WWE SmackDown, saying let’s leave our tribes behind and settle it on the Raw debut on Netflix.

After accepting the challenge, Sikoa along with his New Bloodline attacked both Jey and Sami Uso on the Dec 23rd edition of WWE Raw.

On the last WWE SmackDown before this show, Paul Heyman agreed to Sikoa that if he won this match — he would acknowledge him and put the Ula Fala around his neck. But if Sikoa loses, he would then be acknowledged as the Tribal Chief. Heyman would also be keeping the custody of Ula Fala during the match.

The storyline of the Bloodline is the biggest storyline of the last decade and perhaps one of the biggest ever in the history of WWE. Two men who claim their right at the Head of the Table will battle it out in a Tribal Combat where there are no rules and everything goes. I think that this match will also mark the return of The Rock and might lead to a new storyline towards the WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

My Prediction: Roman Reigns

Once upon a time friends and now enemies set to face each other in the Last Woman Standing match for Women’s World Championship | Credits: WWE & Netflix

Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley – Last Woman Standing match for the Women’s World Championship:

Since returning from her injury at the hands of Rhea Ripley earlier this year, Liv Morgan embarked on her revenge tour with the mission to take out Ripley from her Women’s World Championship. Both Morgan and Ripley have had a very deep rivalry for a few years now, ever since Ripley broke the team with Morgan a few days after WrestleMania 38 during the April 18, 2022 edition of WWE Raw after they were unable to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Both Morgan and Ripley then crossed paths once again when they were the first two and last two participants in the ring during the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Ripley won the match and went on to become the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 39. The rivalry between them kept on going, which led to Ripley injuring Morgan’s right arm on a July 24th, 2023 edition of WWE Raw when she struck Morgan’s left arm into a steel chair and stomped it into the canvas.

Morgan then made her return as the 30th entrant into the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match, where she once again became the runner-up after Bayley eliminated her to win the match. Morgan once again came short when she became the runner-up during the Elimination Chamber 2024 match for a Women’s World Championship match against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania XL.

Liv Morgan took her revenge tour to the next level on Raw after WrestleMania XL when she attacked Ripley backstage — injuring her arm in the process. This backstage attack led to Ripley vacating her Women’s World Championship which was then won by Becky Lynch. Morgan challenged Lynch to a match at King and Queen of the Ring. Morgan defeated Lynch after an outside involvement by “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio.

After healing from the injury, Ripley made her return and challenged Morgan for the Championship at the SummerSlam 2024 PLE. During their match, a slight distraction by Ripley’s boyfriend Dominik Mysterio cost her the match. Moments later, Dominik kissed Morgan after the match and officially ended her relationship with Rhea Ripley. Then on the same night, Finn Bálor also cost Damian Priest his World Heavyweight Championship — kicking both Priest and Ripley out of the Judgment Day.

Priest and Ripley then formed an alliance by the name of “The Terror Twins”, and defeated Mysterio and Morgan at the Bash in Berlin PLE. This victory led to a Women’s World Championship match between Morgan and Ripley at the WWE Bad Blood 2024 PLE, with Dominik Mysterio being hung up in a shark cage. Ripley won the match via disqualification after an attack by Raquel Rodriguez, who formed an alliance with Morgan and became an official member of The Judgment Day.

One of my favorite moments from this match happened when Dominik opened the door of the shark cage to help Morgan but then fell from the cage with one leg still stuck in it. Dominik felt like a human pinata, while Ripley beat him with a kendo stick. Ripley won the match via DQ after Raquel Rodriguez got involved and attacked her, but Morgan retained her championship in the process.

Ripley then made her return to the WWE on the Nov. 18, episode of Monday Night Raw, where she unveiled herself as the fifth member of the team of Bianca Belair, Naomi, Iyo Sky & Bayley. Team Reha then went on to defeat Team Morgan at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, where Ripley pinned Morgan.

On a recent Dec 16th episode of WWE Raw, Ripley interrupted Morgan’s promo and said that she had talked to Raw GM Adam Pearce and made a 1v1 match for the Women’s World Championship official between them.

During the Raw on Netflix Kickoff Event, Adam Pearce announced that this match would take place on the debut episode of Raw on Netflix. WWE then announced during the Dec 27th episode of WWE Main Event that this match will now be a Last Woman Standing match.

My Prediction: Liv Morgan

CM Punk battles Seth “Freakin” Rollins in the main event of WWE Raw debut on Netflix | Credits: WWE & Netflix

CM Punk vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins – Singles match

One of the most heated storylines in all of WWE right now is between CM Punk and Seth Rollins. Punk made his return to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 after 9 years. Everyone was left in shock when that happened. Some loved and some didn’t like that, or perhaps I would say that they hated it.

The fire between both Punk and Rollins could be seen from the very moment when Punk made his return. Rollins and Punk then began feuding for the rest of 2023. Punk entered the Royal Rumble last year where McIntyre injured his arm. Then at WrestleMania XL, Punk attacked McIntyre after he defeated Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship. That attack on McIntyre gave opportunity to Damian Priest who cashed in his Money In The Bank contract.

This led to a rivalry between Punk and McIntyre for the rest of 2024, where they faced each other on three different occasions. Including one WWE SummerSlam 2024, where Seth served as the special guest referee.

Punk then went into a hiatus after his Legendary Hell in a Cell match against McIntyre at the WWE Bad Blood PLE. Punk then returned to WWE when he teamed with The OG Bloodline to defeat The New Bloodline of Solo Sikoa at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.

Both Rollins and Punk then went into a brawl on the Dec 2nd episode of WWE Raw, where Jey Uso and Sami Zayn separated them. Rollins also blamed Zayn and Jey for helping Roman Reigns. Then on the Dec 16th episode of WWE Raw, Punk and Rollins once again went after each other. Later on that night, WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce announced the match between Rollins and Punk, saying that they would now go one-on-one at the debut of Raw on Netflix.

Rollins and Punk also went face-to-face during the WWE Raw on Netflix Kickoff event. WWE then announced that this match between CM Punk and Seth “Freakin” Rollins will main event the Show.

Rollins and Punk then had their final confrontation on Dec 30th, 2024 on the Final WWE Raw on USA Network. Both Rollins and Punk delivered one of the best promos in the history of WWE. It is simply a must-see TV that you can’t miss.

My Prediction: The match will end via double DQ

WWE Legend John Cena kicks off his Farewell Tour | Credits WWE & Netflix

John Cena kicks off his Farewell Tour at WWE Raw debut on Netflix

16-times World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Legend John Cena will be kicking off his farewell tour at WWE Raw debut on Netflix. John Cena announced his retirement during the Money in the Bank 2024 PLE, and he will be returning to WWE on the debut episode of WWE Raw on Netflix.

Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso – Singles match

Drew McIntyre has had his issues with the Bloodline for years. Now ever since returning to back to WWE after his Hell in a Cell match against CM Punk at WWE BadBlood 2024 PLE he has been hunting for the Bloodline member starting with his first attack on Sami Zayn after his match against Seth Rollins at the Dec. 2nd edition of WWE Raw. McIntyre also attacked Jey Uso at the backstage — earlier on that same night.

Then on the Dec. 9th edition of WWE Raw, a promo was aired on the show where McIntyre unveiled himself as the person behind the attack on Jey Uso and Sami Zayn. Later on that same night, Zayn called out McIntyre saying that he had talked to Raw’s GM Adam Pearce and them a singles match at the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event PLE. McIntyre finally came out with a blindsided attack on Zayn.

Then on the Dec. 16th edition of WWE Raw, Sami Zayn attacked McIntyre in the backstage arena right when he was about to attack Seth Rollins. On the following episode of WWE SmackDown on Dec. 20th, Jimmy Uso attacked McIntyre with a crutch.

A few days later on the Dec. 23rd edition of WWE Raw, McIntyre kicked off the show when Zayn challenged him to a match later on the show. Both McIntyre and Zayn then brawled for a moment before McIntyre was attacked by the returning Jey Uso. Later on that same night, McIntyre defeated Zayn in a singles match before he was attacked by Jey Uso.

Zayn also suffered an attack at the hands of Solo Sikoa on the Dec. 27th edition of WWE SmackDown during his match against Carmelo Hayes.

A week later on the Dec. 30th edition of WWE Raw, McIntyre attacked Jey Uso from the back once again, also delivering his signature Claymore Kick. Later on that same night, Raw’s GM Adam Pearce made a singles match between McIntyre and Jey official for the WWE Raw debut on Netflix.

My Prediction: Drew McIntyre

My Thoughts on WWE Raw Debut on Netflix

WWE is without the shadow of a doubt the single biggest wrestling company in the entire world. And with Netflix, I think that matter of days before WWE rocks the entire foundation of Sports and Entertainment.

WWE has built the biggest stories and the matches for this ground-shaking episode of WWE Raw that will put the company on a whole another level.

Man, to be honest with you. Heading into this show, I am just a fan waiting for WWE to rock me with surprise like they always do. Enough from me, Let me know what you think about the show in the comments down below.
